"We must have a foreign policy that is both strong and smart. Yes, the Republicans have been strong, but they haven't been smart. And the policy is one big mess, everyone knows it."

All Action Alerts from Care2

Did you know that over two acres of ancient trees in the Boreal Forest are killed every minute? Did you also know that many of these trees end up in landfills as disposable paper products such as Kleenex, Scott, Huggies, Pull-Ups, Depends, and Kotex?

As regular consumers of household paper products, we should have a say where that paper comes from. Sign this petition and tell Kimberly-Clark to use post-consumer recycled content, not ancient forests!

Rape: it’s a horrible thing that no woman chooses. Yet as it stands now, when a survivor of rape enters the emergency room, she is not always given the chance to prevent pregnancy.

The bill would give the Coast Guard the authority to mandate “reasonable” changes to the Cape Wind project only if it finds that the wind turbines would pose a hazard to navigation, emergency communications, or rescue operations.

The compromise will allow an important wind project to move ahead without political interference and prevents local special ...   more »

The "morning-after pill," or Plan B, is a legally approved medication.

But in a unanimous vote of consideration last week, the Washington State Board of Pharmacy took a step towards giving pharmacists the legal right to refuse to dispense emergency contraceptives, or any other medication, on moral grounds.
The justification? If someone is denied Plan B, or any other medication at one pharmacy, they can just go to another.

But for women in rural areas, their local pharmacy is often the ONLY pharmacy in the neighborhood. If the "morning-after pill" must be taken within 72 ...   more »

All Action Alerts from Care2
Puppy mills are large-scale commercial dog breeding operations where profit is given a higher priority than the well-being of dogs.

The health of the dogs is disregarded in order to maintain a low overhead and maximize profit. The female dogs are housed in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions often times without adequate food, water, veterinary care or socialization. They are caged their entire lives and bred at every opportunity until they are no longer physically able to reproduce. After the dogs are no longer profitable they are commonly killed or abandoned.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture ...   more »
