Wolves Lose ESA Protections - Express Outrage at Plans to Kill Them

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has released its proposal to strip wolves of crucial Endangered Species Act protections in Idaho and parts of Wyoming. Both states are now preparing massive wolf eradication plans, with the intent of killing hundreds of wolves.
In Idaho alone, the governor plans to kill all but 100 of the wolves in the state. He's already set a price too: $26.50 to kill a wolf if you're a resident and $256 dollars if you're from out-of-state.

Protect Wildlife in Bristol Bay from Oil Drilling - disappointment

This month, President Bush lifted the moratorium on gas and oil drilling in Bristol Bay, paving the way for disasterous spills that could decimate the wildlife in the region. Bristol Bay is host to the world's largest sockeye salmon fishery as well as strong seasonal runs of chum salmon, silver salmon and king salmon. Bristol Bay herring, crab, halibut, and pollock fisheries are also important.
Major industries are commercial fishing and the associated canneries, sport fishing, hunting and tourism.

Last week, President Bush had an opportunity to announce that he would begin to bring our troops home. Instead, he made the choice to escalate our involvement in Iraq's civil war by sending in 21,500 more troops.
Our troops and their families have served our nation courageously and sacrificed enough! But with each State of the Union address, Bush announces a major strategic shift for Iraq that is nothing more than the same failed tactics all over again.

All working people should be able to support their families on a living wage. But one institution, Vanderbilt University, stubbornly refuses to pay its workers a living wage even though the university president enjoys a salary of $1.2 million a year!
The unsung heroes that keep the doors of this institution open - groundskeepers, custodians and food services workers, among others - can't afford even the basic necessities for themselves or their families.
