Both major candidates for governor of Indiana have acknowledged smoking marijuana decades ago in their youth.

But Republican Mitch Daniels has been less than forthcoming about his <b>drug arrest</b> in 1970 while a student at Princeton University.

Daniels has acknowledged that he pleaded guilty to a marijuana possession charge 34 years ago, and his campaign accused Kernan's campaign and its supporters of dredging up the arrest in a "pathetic, personal attack."

According to initial newspaper accounts, Daniels, 21 at the time, and two others were arrested in a Princeton dorm room on May 14, 1970, after a five-month investigation that ...   more »
View Article  Republican murderer of the week: Janklow crash anniversary and taxpayers foot the bill

This week marks the first anniversary of the car crash in which Republican Rep. Bill Janklow killed motorcyclist Randy Scott of Hardwick, Minn.

Janklow ran a stop sign causing the accident, has been cited for numerous traffic violations and was well-known as a wreckless driver.

Janklow was convicted of second-degree manslaughter in December and resigned from Congress. He served 100 days in county prison and was released on May 10.

The Virginia House of Delegates' will unveil the portrait of former House Speaker S. Vance Wilkins Jr. on Saturday, Aug. 21.

Wilkins resigned two years ago amid a sexual harassment scandal

Wilkins, who served in the House for 25 years, became the state's first Republican House speaker after he helped engineer the GOP takeover of the legislature in 2000.

He resigned two years later after acknowledging he paid a 26-year-old woman $100,000 to silence accusations that he groped her in his hometown of Amherst in 2001.
