Why Democrats Should Consider Biden

I posted this endorsement on the diary pages last week. However, with the news coming out of Pakistan today, I feel the urge to repost my reasoning and ask that Iowa Democrats reflect on Bhutto's assassination before heading to their caucuses next week. I ask that, when they arrive at their caucus, they consider casting a vote for the one man whose experience and statesmanship are beyond reproach...the one man who would be the best steward of American foreign policy in the post-Bush era...Senator Joe Biden...

As current polling stands, the race for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination is between three people: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards. But it would do you well to remember that just weeks before the 2004 Iowa and New Hampshire contests, Howard Dean and Richard Gephardt were leading in the pre-election polls. The two men who would eventually make up the party's ticket - Kerry and Edwards - were mired in single digits at the bottom of the pack.

GodVoter.org is a conservative organization which claims they are not a Republican group. It’s just a coincidence that the Republicans are better Christians than the Democrats.

Hillary Clinton received the highest grade among the Democrats, a “C”. Another shocker is that Baptist Minister Mike Huckabee received the same grade as Senator Clinton a, ”C” They didn’t like his answer about doing the “huckabuck” at home instead of going to church on Sundays.

Only 3 of the 16 candidates answered the God Voters survey, leading this reporter to conclude they made the answers up.

Current Status: The latest communication we received from Governor Romney's campaign was from his Director of Online Communications, Stephen B. Smith, who emailed on November 13, 2007, "Here’s a preferred 75x75 pixel headshot. Thanks," and attached the above photo.

While we would have appreciated Governor Romney's testimony, its lack isn't a surprise since question #15 is one that Mormons tend to avoid. Why?

Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. is a 35-year legislative veteran, a widely respected foreign-policy expert, a likable man with one of the most gripping biographies in American politics.

Not a bad formula for a presidential campaign.

Yet, Biden has failed to excite voters, and is polling steadily in the mid-single digits with little time before the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses. Nonetheless, he is campaigning at full speed, barnstorming the countryside to build support among rural Democrats.

These are the most practical and cautious of caucusgoers, the type who appreciate Biden's six terms in the Senate and his absorbing tutorials on Social Security and OPEC, who have hours of an afternoon to catch up on Pakistani politics with the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
