Since last Sept. 11, the Bush administration has told the American people that America is at war. But this war is of a peculiar nature. It seems to be, given the nature of the enemy, a war with no foreseeable end. What kind of war is that?

The disconnect between last Tuesday's monstrous dose of reality and the self-righteous drivel and outright deceptions being peddled by public figures and TV commentators is startling, depressing. The voices licensed to follow the event seem to have joined together in a campaign to infantilize the public. Where is the acknowledgment that this was not a "cowardly" attack on"civilization" or "liberty" or "humanity" or "the free world" but an attack on the world's self-proclaimed superpower, undertaken as a consequence of specific American alliances and actions? Rep. John Conyers and the Democrats of the House Committee on the Judiciary Sent a letter dated December 2nd, 2004 to Bush-Cheney Campaign Ohio Campaign Chairman Ken Blackwell who also happens to be the chief election authority in Ohio asking for a response to 35 issues pertaining to the November election.

They sent another letter the next day to Blackwell clarifying several points in the previous letter and inviting Blackwell to hearings on the Ohio elections being held by the Democatic members of the House Committee on the Judiciary.

You have made a very wise decision by refusing to air the United Church of Christ advertisement.

The words, "liberty", "freedom", "equality", and "free speech" are no longer of any importance in the United States. It is far more important to avoid offending the "Executive Branch".
