(Here's an email I received from someone who claims his name is "Sean Newberry". My responses to his email are in bold.  -- Geoff)

Do you really think that Cindy and her cause are appropriate?

Yes.

Do you not see how she has disgraced her son's memory by politicizing it?

No! Do you see how Bush has harmed our troops by politicizing his war?

Have you or Cindy protested the radical Islamic community for their atrocities such as 9/11, the London bombings, and the slew of other terrorist acts they've committed around the globe?

No, I haven't. Nor, have I protested Christian abortion clinic bombers. And, I'll bet you haven't protested either one. So, what's your point?

Do you honestly think that the United States is the aggressor rather than the country that is retaliating for its own protection

Yes, with reference to Iraq, the U. S. is the aggressor. The U. S. invaded Iraq. Iraq was not the guilty party.

Don't you think that the group responsible for the war on terror should be the ones that you are fighting against?

Yes. IRAQ IS NOT THE GUILTY PARTY!!!!!

In this day and age, it is critical for our country's success, stability and future that we act as one - that we have solidarity.

Fallacious argument. Your argument was used by Nazis in Germany against those Germans who opposed Hitler.

We share a common purpose.

No, I do not share a common purpose with George Bush or those who support George Bush. I share a common purpose with those who love our country and want to save it from the clutches of an evil and incompetent leader and his sycophants.

That the citizens support our armed forces in prayers, thoughts and actions.

I support my brother who is fighting in Iraq. I support the troops by opposing an illegal war. I support our troops by demanding that George Bush and the Republican congress provide sufficient body armor, and armored vehicles., I support our troops by working to replace George Bush with a competent Commander-In-Chief. I support our troops by opposing Bush cutting veterans benefits and health care. I support out troops by opposing the use of depleted uranium which permanently injures our troops. And, much more.

Our government, too, needs our support and help.

If by "our government", you mean George Bush and his supporters in the congress, I disagree. The future of our country as a leading democracy on this planet requires that we oppose Bush at every opportunity and that we impeach Bush and Dick Cheney and then try Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, and a few others for treason.

As bad as 9/11 was, there exists a multitude of technologies that could enable terrorists to commit atrocities that would dwarf what happened on that fateful day.

I agree. And, the recent hurricanes prove that we are less capable of defending our homeland than before Bush stole the 2000 election. We do not have hardened harbors, railways, factories or power plants. Our first responders do not have proper equipment or radios that communicate on the same frequency. Bush treated FEMA as an opportunity for political patronage rather than an agency critical to our security. The Democrats tried to fund fixing these things. George Bush and the Republican Congress blocked the improvements and supported turning FEMA into an incompetent mess.

As long as you and your comrades continue your cause to weaken our united front, those that wish ill will upon us will be strengthened by your actions.

Incorrect. It is George Bush who refused to harden our vital resources. It is George Bush who has left us vulnerable and helpless here at home. And, it is you who are causing the problem by ignoring the incomptence and corruption of George Bush. Your snotty reference to my "comrades" as if we were communists is down right silly.

And, by the way, we will never have a "united front" as long as you support George Bush in his attempts to turn Americans against each other by attacking gays, women, atheists, blacks, and any other group that doesn't support his agenda. His sole objective is to turn control of our government over to corporations. (Which by the way, is the definition of "fascism".)

I have no interest in joining your united front to destroy the United States. George Bush is a criminal. He is evil. He stole the election in 2000 and probably in 2004. The "patriotic unity" arguments you make are the same ones made by the Nazis against Germans who opposed Adolph Hitler.

Now, I've heard the argument that Iraq was not a terrorist state, that it had no WMDs.  Well, it DID have WMDs, at least at one time (Saddam, after all, did use them on his own people), and Saddam violated every UN resolution regarding his weaponry and basically dared the United States to attack him.

What's your point? None of this justifies our unilateral and illegal attack on Iraq.

Was the intelligence false that led the world community to believe that he currently had WMDs?  Possibly.

Not "possibly". George Bush decided to attack Iraq and trumped up the intelligence so that he could get his way. In other words, George Bush lied to us. Just because you refuse to believe the facts and instead believe Bush's lies and propaganda only discredits you.

However, we had a ruthless dictator that did not hesitate to use WMDs on his own people that had numerous contacts throughout the terrorist community, who refused to allow United Nations inspectors to inspect his weapon sites, and intelligence from multiple countries and agencies that all concurred he was in possession of WMDs and had facilities to manufacture both chemical and biological weapons.  The United States, Great Britain, the United Nations and nearly every civilized country concurred that Saddam posed a real WMD threat.

Lies are lies. Fools are fools. You obviously have no intention of admitting the facts or admitting that Bush is a liar whose lies have caused thousands of people to die. I will not waste my time stating the facts for you because you will ignore them and continue to believe George Bush' propaganda. Well, I can't resist one item: George Bush withdrew the inspectors so that he could attack Iraq.

Furthermore, Cindy acts as though President George Bush created this whole scenario.

That depends on what you mean by "scenario." Bush doesn't have the character or integrity to admit his mistakes and correct them. He invaded Iraq on his own lies and has completely bungled it. If that is what you mean by "scenario," Bush created it. If you mean the circumstances that have created terrorism, there's plenty of blame to go around. Ronald Reaan and George H. W. Bush, for example.

Guess what, Geoff?  All of these events transpired BEFORE HE WAS ELECTED.  After 9/11; however, our leaders could no longer keep our country's head in the sand and ignore a ruthless dictator that had a track record of war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and torture.

We didn't go to war because of genocide and torture. If that had been the reason, Bush might've gotten more support. And, he might've gotten a better reception in Iraq if Iraqis thought that we were saving them from genocide instead of using a trumped up excuse to occupy their country.

We went to war because Bush wanted a ware. He lied about WMD's and Iraq's involvement with terrorism so that he could have one.

After 9/11, our elected officials, candidates, military leaders, etc. (in addition to most of our allies) were all in concurrence that Saddam posed a threat to the United States, Great Britain and other countries.  This was not some situation that a Bush think tank created.

After all that has transpired, I am amazed that anyone could still believe this Bush propaganda.

President Bush INHERITED the current state of global terrorism, had the worst attack on our soil in the entire history of the United States occur shortly after he took office and was forced to address the horrible reality of a terrorist-infested world.

But, Bush didn't address terrorism. He used it to advance a political agenda benefiting his corporate interests and harming the citizens of the United States. I wonder how many of the 6 million people who have dropped into poverty since Bush stole the 2000 election lived in New Orleans and didn't have the resources to evacuate?

President Bush is leading our country into uncharted waters.  Never before has there existed such a large non-conventional enemy.

Then, why did Bush choose the conventional and outdated response of invading Iraq?

In the World Wars (and even in the Vietnam and Korean Wars), the lines were clear, the enemies were identifiable and the wars were waged much like war has been waged since the birth of civilization.  The war on terrorism; however, is unconventional and deliberately so by our enemy.  These are not men of honor, dignity or who have any semblence of respect for human kind.  They will hide among their enemy, plot to kill their neighbors, and they appreciate everything that you and Cindy are doing.

The people we are fighting in Iraq are doing exactly what I would do if the United States were invaded and our government overthrown - they are fighting an army of occupation and the traitors who supports the invaders.

Look, if President Bush could have scripted his terms of office, I assure you war would have not been written in.

Wrong. Bush said before he stole the 2000 election that he wanted to overthrow Saddam Hussein.

However, the world does not work that way and now he is leading us, as forementioned, into uncharted waters.  If some of the actions taken were wrong; that comes with going where nobody has gone before.

If Bush were a mature man of character and integrity, he would admit those mistakes and make corrections. But, he doesn't understand that adults admit their mistakes, ask for help, make corrections and move on. Instead, Bush stubbornly pretends that all is going well and then accuses those who point this out of being unpatriotic, traitorous weaklings -- just like you are accusing me, Cindy Sheehan, and the majority of people in the United States (and in the world) who see Bush for what he is.

If Bush admitted his mistakes and actually took counsel from those who have been correct about Iraq all along, he would have a majority of Americans supporting him.

BUT, before anybody starts criticizing the President and the rationale for various actions taken, realize that the intelligence he bases his decisions upon is all he can rely upon.  If it is not the best intelligence, perhaps you should be protesting President Clinton for his dismantling of our intelligence organizations.

I was wondering when you would get around to blaming President Clinton for Bush's incompetence and corruption.

Today, in what should be a national day of mourning and outreach for our American brothers and sisters in Louisianna and Texas, Cindy is leading a protest in Washington, D.C. Thousands, if not tens or even hundreds of thousands, of lives will be severely impacted by yet a second monster hurricane.  Rather than continuing her quest for being the biggest asshole in the United States, maybe she should direct her energies toward HELPING.

Excuse me? Cindy has been donating time and money. Her supporters have been volunteering and working to help the displaced Katrinas. At Camp Casey, we created and distributed complete camping setups for families in Texas and Louisiana. The Veterans for Peace have set up an entire tent city and mess hall with donations from Cindy and her supporters. (There's a lot more, but, I've already demonstrated your ignorance, so, there's no point.)

If George Bush had been doing his job, FEMA, the National Guard, etc. would have been able to save many lives during Katrina.

In closing, I cannot stress enough how thoroughly disgusted I am with Cindy and her supporters.  I sympathize for her loss; however, her actions have gone beyond grieving and my pity, as well as that of most people, has turned to disgust and anger.

I really could care less about what you think of Cindy Sheehan, me, or our supporters. You are ignorant of the facts and are helping George Bush to destroy our country.

George Bush is plummeting in the polls. His incompetence is showing. The majority of Americans are against him because he is corrupt and incompetent. Bush is a hateful prick who will do anything, say anything, and stop at nothing to aggrandize his friends at the expense of our country and our planet.

I can only hope that you will wake up from your delusions soon. We need all the help we can get in saving our country back.

Sincerely,
Sean Newberry

By the way, Sean, are you older than 17 and younger than 43? If so, why aren't you in Iraq fighting? Do you have cysts on your butt or what? GS
