I will not attack a fellow soldiers mother. I will only try to understand that this comes from the pain that my own family would someday maybe experience.

My husband and I are both in the service. We have completed OIF I and II. We were there in the begining. He is on his way to go again Thanksgiving. I face another tour again in 2006.

Cindy we will do it for you and the rest of this nation over and over until it is better so that women and children and men alike can carry on protesting and shouting whatever they wish to say. I saw how they are there. I also saw the work your soldiers have done; and done well and that it is truely a slow process and one I hope this nation lets us finish.

I want them to have real freedom from men that have twisted and controlling views on how to lead a nation and kill another. I know now it will be years for this change. But we can do it. We will do it. We will not let our fallen soldiers die in vain. I promise you all this, none of soldiers no matter our view and fears will let you down.

We love all of you, no matter your views and no matter the poor press we get. We get what is going on. We get it. Sometimes it is hard to stay focused with all this, our nation dividing, our leaders politics.....but one thing you cannot confuse is my memories of what I personally saw in Iraq.

The women, the children and some of the odest conversations I have ever had with a man my whole life. I guarded some of the Iraqi men.....and I get it. They need us you guys. Let us finish.

We are thin. The politics are bad. But we CAN still help our nation on our own shores due to the storms and fight terrerist. I promise. The president may not be coming off always right. I agree with much of what you say. But, there is a simple problem:

George Bush.

Why do I say that?

Because many of us warned him that he was being given bad advice and that we would not be greeted with rose petals at our feet.

Mr. Bush didn't plan for securing Iraq after we overthrew Saddam Hussein. As a result, Iraq is an incredible disaster.

Mr. Bush refuses to admit that mistakes have been made and seek better counsel. He paints a rosey scenario and attacks anyone who criticizes his mismangement of the war.

EVERY military leader has made mistakes in the course of a war. The GREAT ones recognize their mistakes and changes their strategy and battle plans. The LOSERS refuse to admit their mistakes and continue down a losing path. For example, Eisenhower, Patton, Roosevelt, Churchill and the rest of our civilian and military leaders corrected their mistakes, created smarter and better strategies and went on to win WWII. Adolph Hitler ignored reality and drove Germany to defeat. We should be thankful that Hitler ignored reality. If he had withdrawn and defensively consolidated his forces instead of blindly taking an offensive posture that stretched his forces too thin, Hitler might have won WWII.

This does not mean that Bush is Hitler. I simply suggest that Mr. Bush is not doing that which is necessary to win the war. Refusing to take proper counsel and to blindly continue down a losing path is what losers do, not great military strategists who win wars.

As a result, he is rapidly losing public support. The vast majority of Americans understand that George Bush is incompetent to conduct this war to a victory.

Mr. Bush won't behave like a real man, admit his mistakes, and ask for some help in reshaping the policy. As a result, we have no choice but to demand that our troops come home now.

So, I suggest that if you really want to support our country and our troops that you demand that Mr. Bush seek better counsel and plan a different course of action for Iraq.

You see, if we had a real plan, based on facts, not fantasy, most Americans would support sending even more troops to Iraq if that is what is needed.

But, I can only demand that our troops be brought home because George Bush is an immature, cowardly, and stubborn man. It takes courage, integrity, and maturity to stand up and admit one's mistakes. When Mr. Bush does that and seeks real counsel to conclude the Iraq war in a constructive manner, I will support him.

If you think that I am mistaken about Mr. Bush, perhaps, you can lobby your friends and associates to convince Mr. Bush that it is manly to admit mistakes and to seek knowledgable counsel.

Here's one thing that I'll bet we can both agree on: The President of the United States has the power and influence to unite the country around a real strategy to stabilize Iraq so that Iraqis can create the government they want and move on with their lives.

He won't get everyone to support him. But, then, there's also group of people in this country who will continue to support George Bush, no matter what he does. But, the 70% of the people in this country who are not on either end of the political spectrum will support a real plan.

So, I know I am being repetitive: If you want to unite the country around the Iraq mission, then persuade Mr. Bush to conduct it in a sensible manner instead of politically.

There is one problem: Mr. Bush lied to get us into the war on false pretences. So, he will have to be willing to admit that as well. And, sadly, that may be the sticking point.

Better yet there is a plan that could redeem the mess in Iraq.
Unfortunately, with each passing month is gets harder to sell.
The plan is simple let the Iraqiis earn their freedom. They voted for freedom so let's see them earn it. Given a period to broadcast the plan and prepare the US announces that our troops will be recalled to our base camps and will patrol the border regions.

If for 4 to 6 weeks the Iraqiis can keep their cities at least as peaceful as a typical US city (not too high a bar) we will remain in our basecamps and begin to dismantle our operations. If they suceed for another 4- to 6 week we withdraw 1/3rd of our troops. At this point we hold a referendum whether the Iraqiis are satisfied with their safety or should the US stay. If they say stay then we become legitimate peacekeepers. If not (as I expect) we continue the cyclic pull out and in the end remove all of our troops leaving Iraq in the control of Iraqiis.

Otherwise we will be stuck in that hellhole until our troops leave in defeat. A defeat I'd rather not see (even if I dislike Bush).

Brilliant....my god we have a solution...as simpleton as it is, it just might work. I think we should send rothgar straight to Washington for a meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff so he can lay out his plan in detail. I can see it now, just how blown away all the Generals and military personal will be, they will be in absolute awe, dumbfounded utterly amazed at how an average civilian could come up with such a brilliant plan. And the biggest benefactor....you know it George W. Bush.

Our president will be amazed at the cerebral power and foresight that rothgar possess and immediately bring him in as his closest advisor. I'm sure he will want to explore the genius that rothgar possesses, and try to figure out how he could have come up with such a complex and brilliant plan!

I'm too old to join the service, just like most of your misinformation, the max age for enlisting in the reserves is one day before your fortieth birthday. The max age full service military is even younger. Let me give you a little assignment which you might be able to handle. Look up the recruiting center in your town, call them up and ask for yourself, instead of spewing your ignorant lazy leftist rethoric.
