"We must have a foreign policy that is both strong and smart. Yes, the Republicans have been strong, but they haven't been smart. And the policy is one big mess, everyone knows it."

Mary MacElveen: The United States is on the path to ruin and destruction

VHeadline.com commentarist Mary MacElveen writes: I have just finished reading Bill Quigley's article New Orleans: Leaving the Poor Behind Again! and I feel Americans are now seeing up close and very personal how these criminals in our government do not care one bit for the poor even if these poor people are disaster victims of Katrina.

A remark made by Congressman Richard Baker (R-LA) is enough to make one’s blood boil.  He said: “We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn’t do it, ...   more »

To Senator Reid,

You want to hear my story?  First of all every single senator with the exception of a lone brave senator in Russell Feingold voted for the U.S.A. Patriot Act only one month after September 11th, 2001 and I found that to be unconscionable.  If that was not enough many Democratic senators voted for the Iraq War Resolution that has taken the lives of just under 2,000 soldiers and tens of thousands innocent Iraqis.  This war of lies cost the lives of all of these innocent people, yet no one is screaming for Bush's impeachment.  But, ...

To Mr. Walter Scott and Parade Magazine,

I am an American citizen who also is a journalist on VHeadline.com which is a Venezuelan news site where I deal with facts and not allegations.  Serious journalists and not spin meisters deal with facts and not allegations .  It has come to my attention you answered this gentleman Robert Henry with erroneous answers.  First of all, President Hugo Chavez is not a Marxist; he is a democratically elected president who won his re-election by a 59 percent margin.  Venezuela is a democracy and not a Marxist regime as you so falsely ...   more »

The jury of public opinion should be allowed to say of Venezuela: "Not guilty!"

VHeadline.com commentarist Mary MacElveen writes: As a writer for VHeadline.com, I would like to respond to Eddy Schmid's remarks contained within his feedback "Would you smile? Would you add a few more greenbacks to the collection plate?"

  • Writers, like me, who refute what is stated within the United States mainstream media are acting as 'defense attorneys' in the court of public opinion.

Mr. Schmid opines in two remarks: "Why do the people of Venezuela feel they constantly have to validate whatever their government does?" ...   more »

Dear Editor,

After reading your brief editorial "They See Al Gore by a Nose in 2008 " concerning a possible Gore run for president in the 2008 election, I am of the opinion that he is the only candidate that can win.  If the Democrats consistently run candidates that have voted for many of the Bush policies, that is their very death sentence and more importantly ours. I feel that was one of Kerry's weak spots.  While he could criticize Bush's handling of the war, he voted for it.  Al Gore as you stated is clearly anti war, ...   more »

To Senator Schumer,                                                                                                                         October 11, 2005

It has come to my attention that you are putting pressure on Paul Hackett who is an Iraq War veteran not to run for a senate seat.  It has been stated in a press release on VeteransForCommonSense.org: “Mike Brautigam says after Congressman Sherrod Brown announced last week he would run for Mike Dewine’s seat, Hackett started getting phone calls pressuring him to get out. Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Charles Schumer of New ...   more »
