Dear Editor,
In reading your column, “How a Deal Became a Big Liability for G.O.P.” one word stuck out in your column and that is “defend”. Secondly, these G.O.P. elected officials should be hanging their collective heads in utter shame at the way Bush has handled Iraq where it has turned out to an all out civil war, Bush’s failure at handling the Katrina disaster, a surplus turned into an immense deficit and here I thought the G.O.P. was for fiscal restraint. I could go on citing chapter and verse at just how wrong Bush has handled the affairs of this nation. more »

In reading the news where your state’s lawmakers approved a ban on nearly all abortions Friday and where I also read: “Republican Gov. Mike Rounds said he was inclined to sign the bill, which would make it a crime for doctors to perform an abortion unless it was necessary to save the woman's life. The measure would make no exception in cases of rape or incest.” I am reminded of Bush’s statement after the terrorists struck us on September 11th, 2001, where he said: “You are either with us or the terrorists” more »
