Bush Campaign co-Chair Ken Blackwell blocks acesss to election records, Board of Elections leaves records unattended in unlocked room
DAYTON Saturday December 11, 2004
Greene County election records that were the subject of Secretary of State Blackwell’s personal lockdown order on Friday December 10 were left vulnerable in an unattended, unlocked Board of Elections office. According to Joan Quinn and Eve Roberson, two election observers researching voting records, revisited the office the next morning to find the building unlocked and unoccupied.
Quinn and Roberson were the citizens who had been allowed access to voter records by Director of Elections Carole Garman, who then abruptly withdrew access to these records upon the order of Secretary of State Blackwell. On Friday, Garman did not offer a valid legal basis for the withdrawal of voting records to these observers. The Ohio Revised Code requires that all election records be available to the public and provides penalties for those preventing public access. The Ohio recount process does not officially start until the week of December 13, after the Electoral College vote will have taken place.
The records taken from Quinn and Roberson’s hands on Friday stood in an unlocked Board of Elections office Saturday morning, apparently overnight. Several observers arrived Saturday morning, noticing cars in the parking lot, and looked for officials in the office, but found nobody in the unlocked building. Law enforcement and media contacts had been alerted and were at the site before County officials arrived. Deputy Director of Elections Lynn McCoy arrived later and stated that all election records were still “locked down” and remained unavailable to the public. However, metal boxes with sealed locks had been stacked in the unlocked basement immediately accessible to the unlocked entrance. The Deputy Director would not confirm that these boxes contained original ballots.
Quinn and Roberson are part of a vote recount and observation team researching voting irregularities in Ohio from the November general election. The Greene County voting records were required to document irregularities in advance of the official recount. Because the voting records are considered vital to the accuracy of the recount, Quinn and Roberson questioned why any election official would intentionally keep them from public view. Roberson said “Any lockdown of public records is a violation of the public’s right to know what its government is doing.”
The recount team is soliciting affidavits of people who have witnessed or experienced voter irregularities in Ohio. Persons with any information or experiences to share are invited to send comments to: ohvotefraud@yahoo.com

Since that black sob Blackwell has refused to allow the vote
re-counting to continue..i think we need to go to his front lawn with upside-down crosses and let them burn on his front lawn!!After all an upside down cross is similar to a sword and a sword means a fight will ensue..if that doesnt bring old black Blackwell to his senses, then we need to tar and feather that so-and-so.and if that doesnt work put Kinda Sleazy Rice, Colon Powell, Michael Powell of the Federal Candy Co,and Clarence Thomas (remember his Long- Dong Silver Movie with Anita Hill?)on notice we will be after them.We have their number! And i am not a racist by any means.if these people in the govt are allowing voter intimidation and voter fraud then we need to intimidate the hell out of them..Tar and feathers worked pretty good way back when!! Blackwell should resign or be forced to resign. but arent all Republicans thugs? just wait and see!! i think they have already shown their true colors in the name of Jesus. And i happen to be an atheist. i am basically a pacifist at heart but sometimes strong measures must be used on these people. The country is going down the tube already..due to George W Bush and his henchmen. There must have been something in those vote counts that would reveal something so Blackwell had the counting stopped..Now let's stop him!! Bring back the re-counts!! I understand your anger.
But, I don't think that burning something, especially a cross in anyone's front yard is appropiate. It is far too reminiscent of things I hope are long past and would only turn people against us (and rightly so, I might add). I understand the issue of blacks who support Bush voting against their own interest - which is disgusting. But, just remember that Bush did best among white people and that he did better by close to 10 points among white women then he did in 2000. So, we can hardly throw stones based on race. I'm not sure why blackes have a special obligation to not support George Bush than any other group. A significant number of gays voted for George Bush even after Bush advanced a constitutional amendment to deny gay people human rights. While I understand your sentiment, I'd like to suggest something to you: If you think you have to say, "I'm not a racist" so that people reading your comments won't think that of you, I'd say it would be best to change your language so that it is clear from your statements that you aren't racist without having to write a disclaimer. By the way, I havent seen you post here before. Welcome. I hope you don't think me too hard on you and you'll join us regularly! my comment was supposed to be meant tounge-in-cheek and funny but i see it wont be taken that way. they "tar-and-feather"
us every day in their media. and i bet those intimidated felt "tarred-and_feathered" as well.so much for toung-in-cheek. Re: Re: Re: Locked-Down Ohio Poll Records Left in Unlocked Building

So i include Ken Blackwell as part of the Bush Crime Family for the crimes he has comitted already and his conflict of interest as S.O.S. Look, it's real simple: The language you used sounds racist to me and others. That doesn't mean that you are racist.
That's why it is important to not use racist language, even in jest, around people you do not know. Racist language can certainly be used to make a point. But, again, if you use it around people you do not know, they are justified in assuming you to be racist. I have two tests that I use: Would I feel comfortable saying it in the presence of black people I didn't know or didn't know well? If not, I wouldn't say or write it. If I'm not quite sure, or I'm simply curious abut it, I'll ask some black friends about it. I will say that what you wrote is not something I would say or write. And, I wouldn't have to ask my black friends to make the decision. Again, I don't know you. But, what you said sounds racist to me. Anybody who uses obvious imagery like burning crosses, and refers to people as "old black" and "black SOB" then claims innocence by crying "tongue in cheek" needs a reality check. why not just call him a n-- and be done with it.
Here's your test - go to whatever Black area near you and yell about burning crosses on Blackwell's lawn who cares if they're upside down, what an ignorant supposed "protest", see what happens to your "politically incorrect" bee-hind. I am so sick of white supremacy from the left, and I could really give a crap about some ABOUT ME on the internet...why not just go vote republican if you want to throw that kind of imagery around like it's some kind of joke. I just watched Fahrenheit 911, (I know a little slow) What is America doing? Why are we not doing something drastic to take back America! How can these people, including Blackwell get away with these things? I know why, because we have to go to work, or we have to get 8 hours of sleep, or we have to get 3 sqaure meals? Bullshit! The Ukranian people are what's happening! Come on! Let's take back OUR COUNTRY!

it happened because we let it happen..we abrogated our democratic power for republican and fascist power.i saw the
entirety of the Democratic National Convention this summer and was enthused.but we let the Repugnicants get the best of us. i doubt things will change till we rid ourselves of the present way we vote and get rid of those stupid Diebold Voting Machines. we need to go back to paper ballots..but Republicans, being true to their thuggish nature, would try to steal elections even thru the paper ballots. my belief is there can never be fair elections in the USA again..so i am looking seriously at going to Canada when my funds become available. i dont want to put up with another 4 years of GWB and Clarence Thomas and all those thugs. i doubt things will change much from now on even tho a few things are being done. i dont have much hope anymore for the US.i did my part..i faxed my senators and congressman and told everybody in the grocery store what i was about. even sent a few emails. maybe things will be better in Canada for me in a couple years. I am tired of these right-wingers--including my sister next door-= telling me what to do. i am a free thinker. this country is too religious for me and i am atheist.religions cause all the bloodshed in the world..they always have. i dont need religion!! the US has become a fascist theocracy and will get worse. |
