"The moral and political defeat of the Bush-Blair coalition in Iraq, which could turn very fast into an unsustainable situation, could be, along with the French "NO" to the constitution, the signal (end of Anglo-Saxon preeminence). "

Note: This analysis provides much more detail about France voting against the European Union than is being reported in the media. The No vote in France is a bitter sweet victory because many, including the author, believe the EU to be a good thing.

A comment made by George Bush at one of his Sham-Hall meetings - that it is "great and uniquely American" to have three jobs just to get by - is exactly what the French have the good sense to reject. Many European countries have had a far more progressive social compact than the United States and as Desmoulins points out, the European Union constitution as currently written would eliminate progressive social policies and bring out-sourcing and other problems from the United States to Europe.

The French had the good sense to not want an American style economy. Hopefully, as Desmoulins points out, this will be the catatlyst to change the EU into what it should be - a vechicle to grow the European economy while protecting European values.  GS)
