Contact President Obama and ask him to implement these executive actions to support LGBT rights

For the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, the election of a fair-minded president provides vast opportunities to advance equality in material ways on an accelerated timetable. This results not only from new leadership and vision in the White House itself, but from new management of the entire executive branch as well. These agencies recommend and implement policies related to violence, health education and research funding, family benefits and other areas that are critical to the well-being of LGBT people.

Through the power that our Constitution provides the president and executive branch, the incoming Obama/Biden administration can institute much-needed changes in federal policy without congressional action. The president has the power to appoint officials who are receptive to civil rights, and judges who respect fundamental constitutional principles and enforce legal protections for all Americans. The president is also empowered to direct administrative actions that will improve the lives of millions of LGBT people.

Sharon Killer Keller was legally obligated to accept the appeal of a condemned man, but because she is lazy, callous, hateful, arrogant, unprofessional, and contemptuous of our justice, the rule of law, and our legal system, Sharon Killer Keller told the condemned man’s attorneys the office closes at 5 o’clock and we won’t wait 20 minutes for the appeal. As a result, Michael Richard was executed that night, without receiving the due process to which he was entitled.

This is outrageous behavior, even for Republican Judges in Texas.

The condemned man, Michael Richard was executed that night because Killer Keller had something better to do and she couldn’t be bothered to inform Mr. Richard’s attorney that other judges were available to accept the appeal.

Once again, Texas is the laughingstock of the nation. Only, this macabre joke is only suitable for Halloween in dictatorships, not a democracy that respects the rule of law. — Geoff Staples

I stand with Senators Joe Biden (D-DE), Sam Brownback (R-KS), Barbara Boxer (D-CA), John Kerry (D-MA), Bill Nelson (D-FL), Chuck Shumer (D-NY), Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), Blanche Lambert Lincoln (D-AR), Jeff Bingaman (D-NM), Arlen Specter (R-PA), Gordon Smith (R-OR), and Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) in calling for a political solution in Iraq that allows to draw down troops without leaving a bloodbath behind.

I urge Congress to pass the Biden-Brownback-Boxer amendment to create a federal system in Iraq, as their Consititution provides, that gives each region of the country control over the daily lives of its citizens, and securing the support of the United Nations and Iraq's neighbors for this plan.

The President has clung to the idea that a strong central government will emerge in Iraq that will pull the country together for five years.

It's not working.

It's time for a change.
