Mr. President, you have repeatedly said "I was young and irresponsible when I was young and irresponsible." You were arrested multiple times for driving while intoxicated. There are rumors about other problems and about your behavior while in the Texas Air National Guard. Your "young and irresponsible" days lasted until age 40. And, yet you want to change our laws so that children must stand trial as adults at age 14. So, Mr. President, why do you give yourselfa pass on your indiscretions until age 40 while you want everyone else to be held accountable for their actions at age 14? Bush prematurely left his Texas National Guard unit in 1972--because nerves, fear and a possible drinking problem were affecting his ability to pilot his F-102A plane.
