Based on this hstory it is likely that Bush's folly will still be being fought in 2171AD. How much misery, how many billions are we going to spend.

I think some are so intent on outlawing abortion and homosexuality that they will support Bush no matter what. That I think they are sadly misguided to the point of doing the devil's work is irrelevant

May more are simply naive or greedy. Since they have comfortably easy media outlets and a long standing, well-engrained dubiousness of any media that challenges their prejudices, this is a position of sloth. Never mis-underestimate the laziness of Americans.

I simply cannot believe that 85% of those who self-identify as Republicans are lazy or stupid. In other words, I think most of them know exactly why they support Bush. Some do it for personal gain. Some do it to deny others civil rights they claim for themselves.

When I worked for EDS, Ross Perot used to say, "We will do whatever it takes to win as long as it is legal and ethical."

The Republicans that continue to support Bush have changed this to, "We will do whatever it takes to win." Their approach is to fool as many people as possible with their propaganda and lies.

Fortunately, they have forgotten the famous dictum, "You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time. But, you can't fool all of the people all of the time."

I'd guess that less than 10% of Republicans support Bush becaue they can be "fooled all of the time".

Here's my analysis of this:

32% of Indpendensts support Bush
8% of Democrats support Bush
84% of Republicans support Bush

There's only one reason that a Democrat would suppor Bush - They are in the "can be fooled all of the time" category.

32% of independents support Bush. This number includes members of the ANP/NSM, and a few libertarians, as well as those who claim to be independents because they think it sounds better to be an Independent Bush supporter rather than a Republican Bush supporter. But, nevertheless, the largest number is those independents who can be fooled all of the time.

Of the 84% of Republicans that support Bush, some are of the "can be fooled all the time" and the rest support Bush for perceived personal gain or to deny civil rights to others, or to force their religion upon others through armed aggression and legislation.

Democrats are clearly the most intelligent and best informed voters since they clearly have the smallest number of "can be fooled all the time" folks in their party.

Additionally, the Democratic Party is the party of integrity because it has little or no members who support Bush for personal gain, to deny civil rights to others, or to force their religion on others.

As for Independents and Republicans, since there is no positive reason to support Bush, 34% of independents and 84% of Republicans are either immoral, amoral, corrupt, or foolish.

And, since 84% of Republicans fall into this category, it becomes pretty obvious that their claim to supperior integrity and morality is no more true than Bush's claims that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

The most interesting part of this is that the vast majority of independents support Bush because they "can be fooled all the time". But, the vast majority of Republicans that support Bush do it for nefarious reasons, not because they are being fooled.

So, this makes Independents the dumbest voters, Republicans the most corrupt and selfish voters, and Democrats the most moral and intelligent voters.

Interesting bit of reasoning. But let's look at it in reverse. If 84% of republicans are easily fooled into voting Republican then surely 92% of Democrats who vote Democtatic must also be as easily fooled and since there are more of them precentage wise then more Democrats are easily fooled than republicans.

The error in both your reasoning and mine is that neither position starts with anything but an assumtion that those who vote for the opposition must therefore be fools otherwise they would be voting for my candidate. Since deep down inside we know this is a wrong concept to begin with why not just drop the reasoning and move on to constuctive ideas.
