How can I describe my president
Or how can I convey
To you in a meaningful sort of way
Things alarming and ever so present
As I lift my voice in pained dissent
A man of God, he says
Praise Jesus
God keep
And I say what a mess
He says we fight for freedom
And also for liberty
For our nation
And every single Iraqi
But what about those who died in detention
He boldly proclaimed, “Bring it on!”
With grace and Christian stature
And in the name of freedom condoned torture
From the
And I say there’s nothing new under the sun
A man who darkened a nation’s day
By lying to a people and her country
Not only for the sake of liberty
But also for truth, justice, and the American way
And I say
Yes, how can I describe my president
A man of supposed integrity
Who stripped away another nation’s dignity
In the wonderful name of humanity
And I say what a travesty
Now after all is said and done
He sings aloud his Savior’s hymn
Crying out in sweet submission
While hundreds lose both life and limb
And I search for answers scattered by the wind
