Veterans for Peace Bus Tour Promotes Impeachment
The Times-Standard (California) July 24, 2005
Veterans opposed to President Bush and the war in Iraq were set to
leave Eureka Saturday on a tour that will take them around the country.
The Veterans for Peace bus owned by Patrick Tate, president of the
Mendocino Chapter, was packed to head south to pick up others in Sonoma
County, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara on its way to Santa
Monica and the Arlington West Memorial.
Tate said Republicans, Democrats, Independents and Greens will be on the bus.
"And every one of them is calling for impeachment of the Bush administration," he said.
After Santa Monica, the bus will head to Dallas, Texas in August,
Washington, D.C., and Fort Benning, Ga. Along the way, the veterans
will try to collect 40,000 names on petitions in support of
impeachment.
Eureka veteran Gordon Soderberg said impeachment is the only legal, nonviolent remedy to force Bush from office.
"What we fought for -- we have to preserve the right to free speech and dissent," Soderberg said.

We need more of this, of veterans coming out to oppose this administration's outrageous policies, especially with the chicken shit/chicken hawk sitting up in the White House. But I'd like to see this entire administration impeached and removed from office by senate trial after the Democrats get control of Congress, which let's make happen in 2006, then the House Speaker, who would then be a Democrat would be right in the line of succession to the presidency. Now that ain't so bad.
Then maybe we could just some regular old criminal trials which would facilitate such as are now in this administration having the opportunity to get to where they really belong, as in behind bars. W's supporters may have screamed for four more years, but if these characters go to Alcatraz or some other appropriate facility for the completely morally challenged, then maybe 20 years would be more like it. |
