Geoff & David et al >> serious, in-depth, no compromise, on-going discussions on Radio Left, when possible featuring legislators & others who are concerned that our votes have been taken from us;
>> all of us reading, understanding, memorizing the US Constition & Bill of Rights (yes, chapter and verse);
>> all of us knowing who ALL the political figures are in our state, county, city or town -- how to contact them -- how to best put fire in their bellies over this voting machine issue.
>> all of us knowing the voting system in our state/county/city or town ... and hooking up with reform groups to clean it up (if REALLY dirty), change it (if REALLY biased or out of date), replace it (to counteract the Orwellian realities of today).
>> each of us when/as so moved, bringing together his/her local citizenry for idea/action sessions;
>> giving money to Black Box Voting and/or any groups working on stolen elections & their prevention;
>> printing out single sheets with Internet info about this crime & usurpation of our voting rights (always with references & URLS) & leaving them in your library/market/local magazine shop, etc.
>> hosting discussions on local cable TV about the machine madness;
>> writing, calling, e-mailing anyone at any level of government or business or media whenever you see an opportunity to push this issue of taking our VOTE back.

These are just some actions. Spend time & think of more/others & work on the ones you feel most drawn to. Small, big or in-between actions, it doesn't matter. As long as its SOMETHING done CONSISTENTLY.

BOTTOM LINE: America is not the same nation it was even five years ago (and not all because of 9/11). It barely resembles the country most over-50s grew up in. Wake up call, everybody. It makes no sense to keep talking about Democrats v Republicans, blue v red, until we realize what has happened and we open our collective windows and yell out, "we're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore!" It may even be too late at this hour, but if we go down, at least we'll know we did it trying.

ADDENDUM: If you feel that politics and this entire exercise to save our vote is useless, go out and do something good for someone/some group in need or some cause you still have faith in. Work/give as a world citizen if your American citizenship doesn't stir you at the moment. Mainly, don't lose hope. Life, indeed, IS beautiful. Take to heart and make true for YOU these words of Emily Dickenson:" To live is so startling it leaves time for little else!"
