I needed a good laugh today and here it is: Mitt “I’m to the left of Ted Kennedy” Romney has flip-flopped to become a born-again conservative, while Giuliani has stuck to his so-called liberal social positions. So, what happens?

MANCHESTER, N.H., Oct. 4 — Mitt Romney leveled some of his sharpest criticism yet at his Republican rival Rudolph W. Giuliani on Thursday, questioning Mr. Giuliani’s fiscal conservative credentials and even his electability given his liberal views on social issues.
Mr. Romney’s criticism came as the leading Republican presidential candidates announced their third quarter fund-raising totals, with Mr. Giuliani edging out Mr. Romney but with Fred D. Thompson not far behind. Mr. Romney also revealed that he had lent his campaign an additional $8.5 million of his own money.
Campaigning in southern New Hampshire on Thursday, Mr. Romney criticized Mr. Giuliani for opposing a presidential line item veto as mayor of New York and supporting a commuter tax in the city.
He also challenged a pillar of Mr. Giuliani’s candidacy, his electability, arguing that the former mayor’s views on social issues would make it impossible for him to rally Republicans in the November 2008 election.
