Operation Yellow Elephant
Thanks to Michelle Malkin, we've just learned that Code Pink in the San Francisco Bay area, as part of their anti-war message, has targeted the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Selection Office in Berkeley using vandalism and other forms of harassment.We certainly support the First Amendment rights of all Americans, including Code Pink, to protest anywhere they want, including recruiting stations, if they so choose. See OYE 101.
We have thought, however, that personal attacks, vandalism [especially when mis-spelled], etc., while perhaps making you feel better about yourself, actually alienate the American public and don't help to persuade them to agree with you. Furthermore, in no way can U.S. Marine Corps officer candidates, all college graduates, be considered "vulnerable youth."
On the other hand, conservatives' reactions to Code Pink's antics have also started to attract pro-war supporters to 'defend' the Berkeley USMC Officer Selection Office. The fact that our Army and Marine Corps are just barely making their recruiting quotas means that we need to see more pro-war supporters at recruiting centers.
Furthermore, some of those who are healthy heterosexual men in their twenties might be excellent candidates to serve as officers in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Operation Yellow Elephant therefore thanks Code Pink for their strong support of President Bush's surge in Iraq and encouragement of healthy heterosexual young men to Be A Man! Enlist!
Operation Yellow Elephant also thanks Captain Richard Lund, USMC, Officer Selection Officer in Berkeley, for his service to our country and for his Open Letter to Code Pink, in the great American tradition, especially in the northern Bay area, of robust, uninhibited debate!
